Aigerim Altynbek graduated from the Kazakh National University of Arts, where she specialized in Vocal Art. During her studies, she trained under Associate Professor Tatyana Rudneva, developing the technical mastery and artistic expression that would later define her career. In 2016, she won third place at the V International Competition of Vocalists named after Boris Shtokolov in St. Petersburg, Russia. Two years later, in 2018, she continued her rise by securing second place at the International Vocalist Competition named after V. Chachava in Tbilisi, Georgia.

In the same year, she achieved fourth place at the prestigious International Jan Sibelius Vocalist Competition in Turku, Finland, and won first place at the International Singing Competition “Pearls of Art” in Kaunas, Lithuania. Winning such a competition demonstrated that Altynbek possessed not only technical excellence but also the artistic depth necessary to compete at the highest international level. Her achievements did not go unnoticed in Kazakhstan. Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balayeva publicly highlighted Aigerim Altynbek as one of the country’s most promising cultural ambassadors. While discussing Kazakhstan’s future international stars, Balayeva expressed high expectations for the young soprano, noting that she had won nearly all the major competitions she entered in Italy during the year. The minister emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting talented artists and helping them build successful international careers. According to Balayeva, efforts are being made to provide Altynbek with opportunities to perform alongside some of the world’s leading opera artists. Such support reflects Kazakhstan’s broader ambition to showcase its cultural achievements on the global stage. The defining moment of Altynbek’s career so far came in 2025, when she achieved an extraordinary victory at the XI International Opera Competition CLIP (Concorso Lirico Internazionale di Portofino) in Italy.

Widely regarded as one of the most prestigious vocal competitions in the world, CLIP attracts talented singers from across the globe and is closely watched by directors, managers, and representatives of major opera houses. The competition received approximately 200 applications from aspiring opera singers worldwide, but only ten finalists advanced to the final stage. These finalists performed at a gala concert accompanied by the Teatro Carlo Felice Orchestra in the iconic square of Portofino. Against this highly competitive field, Aigerim Altynbek emerged as the absolute winner. Her triumph was historic. She not only secured first prize but also won the Audience Award, the Best Female Voice Award, and the special prize presented by renowned music critic, artistic director, and teacher Carlo Maier. This unprecedented success established her as the standout performer of the competition and brought international attention to Kazakhstan’s growing influence in the field of opera.

According to jury chairman Domenic Meyer, Altynbek occupied the top position in the rankings of all jury members from the earliest stages of the competition. Such unanimous recognition is extremely rare in international vocal contests and reflected the exceptional quality of her performances. Meyer noted that her consistent leadership throughout the competition confirmed the audience’s enthusiastic support, which ultimately earned her the Emotion Prize as well. Another important aspect of her victory was the recognition she received from the Ibanez-Atkinson Foundation of Chile. The organization, known for identifying and supporting promising young vocalists worldwide, awarded Altynbek the prize for Best Female Voice. The foundation also extended a professional recommendation and an invitation for future collaboration.
