Kazakhstan Attracts Over $100 Billion in U.S. Investment, Deepening Economic Cooperation

Kazakhstan is seeking to deepen its economic partnership with the United States as American investment in the Central Asian country surpasses $100 billion, according to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Speaking at a roundtable with representatives of major American businesses in New York, Tokayev described the United States as Kazakhstan’s largest investor and an important strategic partner. He said the scale of investment demonstrates the strength of economic cooperation between the two countries. More than 630 American companies operate in Kazakhstan, spanning energy, aviation, financial services, technology, transportation and other industries. Tokayev highlighted major companies including Chevron, ExxonMobil, Boeing, Visa, Mastercard, Meta, Wabtec and Citibank as examples of the established U.S. corporate presence in the country.
Energy remains one of the foundations of bilateral economic cooperation. Chevron and ExxonMobil have made major long-term investments in Kazakhstan’s oil and gas sector, while transportation and logistics are emerging as another important area for expanded cooperation. Tokayev also pointed to Wabtec’s role in Kazakhstan’s railway and engineering industries and cooperation with Boeing in civil aviation. The President said Kazakhstan wants to attract more American investment while developing an economy increasingly focused on innovation, digital transformation and diversification. The country also sees opportunities for U.S. businesses in transport infrastructure, advanced technologies and other emerging sectors. Tokayev reaffirmed that strengthening the strategic partnership with Washington remains an important direction of Kazakhstan’s foreign and economic policy. Kazakhstan and the United States have also maintained high-level dialogue on trade, investment and nuclear non-proliferation, reflecting the broader scope of their relationship. With established American companies already playing significant roles in key industries, Kazakhstan is positioning further U.S. investment as an important component of its efforts to diversify its economy and strengthen its role as a commercial and investment hub in Central Asia.
